1 A King's Ransom Suthren, Victor
Toronto, Canada Collins Publishers 1980 0002220318 / 9780002220316 First Edition, First Printing Hardcover Very Good Very Good +
Tightly bound first edition in navy blue with gilt lettering on spine; 217 pages including two double-page maps showing the area of action of this story, the second of the Paul Gallant naval adventures. Has just a touch of wear to spine ends and slight pushing to bottom edge of front cover. Wraparound pictorial dust jacket has a little edge wear; jacket now protected in a clear, archival quality cover. The time is the mid-1700s and Gallant, captain of the corvette 'Echo' and an Acadian from Louisbourg - on what is now Canada's East Coast - is sent by France to search for a fabled, bejewelled golden statue that had been sent by the King of Spain to the King of France for France's continuing support of Spain's ambitions. The statue, accompanying treasure, and the ship that carried them had disappeared. Had it been wrecked, taken by the British, or was it now part of some pirate hoard? Category: Fiction; ISBN: 0002220318. Inventory No: 707115. Hardcover
Price: 22.50 USD
